Rick James' Love Gun (Gordy LOPG8-990M1) is so damn infectious (and danceable) that it was almost impossible to sit down and review it. Its irresistibility is generated by some very sleazy backup lyrics— "Any day, any place/ that you want me on your face"—and James' own mischievous dialogue—"... put your finger on the trigger/when you pull it back I'm bigger.” Add that to some very tight percussion and horn works with the rhythm tracks giving the song its pulsating "punk/funk drive" as James calls it.
